Reptiles are cold blooded animals that depend on the warmth from the sun or a heat lamp. They have scales on their bodies keeping them from drying out. Reptiles also lay eggs instead of giving live birth like mammals do. Once eggs are hatched, the young are left to fend for themselves. Most reptiles live shorter life spans because of their body temperature not allowing them to have as high of a metabolism They are also carnivorous, which means they eat meat such as mammals, birds, and insects. Some examples of reptiles are snakes, geckos, frogs, turtles, and lizards.
